Farm Worker

We are seeking a dedicated and reliable Farm Worker to join our team. The successful candidate will assist with a variety of tasks across the estate, including woodland management, estate maintenance, land care for a wedding venue, and the upkeep of farm buildings, machinery, and the farmyard. This role offers a diverse range of responsibilities in a beautiful, rural setting, with opportunities for growth and development in estate and farm management.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Woodland Management:
  • Assist in coordinating and executing the woodland management plan.
  • Help with tree planting, pruning, and monitoring woodland health.
  • Support in maintaining paths and clearing overgrowth for access and wildlife preservation.
  1. Estate Maintenance:
  • Support general maintenance and upkeep of the estate, including fencing, gates, and roads.
  • Assist with the management of the estate’s water systems, including ponds, streams, and drainage.
  • Carry out regular inspections of the estate’s infrastructure, reporting and addressing maintenance needs.
  1. Stakeholder Management:
  • Communicate and cooperate with local stakeholders, including contractors, suppliers, and service providers.
  • Ensure the estate complies with all relevant local regulations and environmental standards.
  • Support the coordination of estate events and liaise with external groups and businesses as required.
  1. Land Maintenance for Wedding Venue:
  • Maintain the land used for wedding events, ensuring it is tidy and well-presented.
  • Mow grass and manage other groundskeeping tasks, including trimming hedges, weeding, and ensuring that outdoor event spaces are pristine.
  • Assist with the set-up and breakdown of wedding-related events on the estate when required.
  1. Farmyard Maintenance:
  • Carry out general maintenance and cleaning of the farmyard, ensuring a safe and organized environment.
  • Monitor and maintain farm equipment, including tractors, mowers, and other machinery.
  • Ensure that farmyard storage areas and buildings are clean, functional, and secure.
  1. Building and Machinery Upkeep:
  • Conduct routine inspections and repairs on buildings and machinery to ensure they are in good working order.
  • Assist with seasonal maintenance tasks and machinery preparation for different times of the year.
  • Ensure that machinery and tools are stored correctly, maintaining safety protocols at all times.
  1. General Farm Assistance:
  • Help with seasonal tasks such as haymaking, stewardship schemes etc.
  • Assist with other general farm duties as needed, including maintaining health and safety standards on the estate.


Skills and Qualifications:

  • Previous experience in farm work, estate management, or a similar role preferred but not essential.
  • Practical knowledge of machinery maintenance and basic repairs.
  • Experience or interest in woodland management and countryside conservation is desirable.
  • Good physical fitness and ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions.
  • Strong attention to detail and a proactive approach to problem-solving.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to engage with external stakeholders.
  • A valid driver’s license and experience operating farm machinery are desirable.


Working Conditions:

  • Full-time role, typically 40 hours per week with occasional weekend work required for events or seasonal activities.
  • Role involves working outdoors in all weather conditions.
